Just a quick post today while I still feel up to it.
Those that follow this have already heard a bit about the 100 pushups plan that I am working towards. Actually Kestrel is just coming to the end of week one today. I hope it’s going well for you sir.
I was just struck today by just how far I have come in three weeks.
When I first did my initial test I was able to manage only twelve good form pushups. Twelve, thats it.
As I was gathering my papers together today I looked back at the first workout. I remember it leaving me tired and sore. Pretty much the same way I feel today, having just completed the last workout of week three.
Looking at the numbers is what actually drove it home. Here, i’ll just write it out and you can see what I mean.
Week 1, day 1, workout (my starting number, check the actual workout for yours)
Rest 60 seconds between sets
set 1: 6
set 2: 6
set 3: 4
set 4: 4
set 5: max out (minimum 5) – I did 13
Now compare that to the end of week three and you’ll see what caught my eye.
Week 3, day 3, workout
Rest 120 seconds between sets
set 1: 16
set 2: 21
set 3: 15
set 4: 15
set 5: max out (minimum 21) – I did 23
The first day I was shocked to find out I had managed to pull out thirty three pushups. Today I was even more shocked to do the math and find I had done ninety.
I am not sure what shocked me more, the fact that I had managed that many, or that I was actually looking forward to next week.
