Actually I feel more like calling it the weakly report.
A while back I jogged three times a week. I would trot off to the gym after work and put in my 2 miles. I was getting back into shape, it felt great.
One day I decided to push out an extra mile, after all it was Friday and I had the weekend to recover. That’s the day my left knee made a not so funny crunching noise towards the end of my run. By the next morning I could hardly walk.
A month later the pain in my knee was all but gone. I felt better than I had in a long time. I was ready to run again. I dropped my daughter off for work and headed out to the gym.
I never made it.
That’s the day that my motorcycle and a large pickup truck decided they both wanted to be in the same place at the same time. Scientific theory proven, two objects can’t do that without colliding. I also tested and proved that a human knee is softer than concrete, but we all already knew that right? Sometimes I hate science.
I have no illusions that I walked away a very lucky man. The fact that I walked away at all proves that. One thing I did managed though was to put a pretty good hurtin’ on the same knee that had just finished healing up. Something to do with that second experiment.
I went back to what I had been doing. I waited for it to heal. This week I grew tired of waiting.
I went back to the gym, walked past the weight room, avoided the running track, and took my butt to the pool. I may not be up for running again yet, but I am certainly able to swim. That was Saturday, and I have been there every day but Sunday since then.
Damn it feels good to be back.
The real weekly reports will resume next week.
