It’s been an interesting time these last three weeks.
I made a lot of choices.
Some were important, some not so much.
For instance deciding which pair of pants to wear to work today had little long term effect on my life. Now, if I would have decided not to wear any that could have had some rather long reaching effects.
Some were good decisions, some were bad.
Trust me, I made the right choice with this mornings wardrobe. Comfy jeans and a sweater.
Then again, the weekly report is not where I talk about my fashion disasters. Actually I could do a whole category on them. This is where I own up to the effect my choices have had on my efforts to get healthy. Lets take a look at how I did this week.
Well, I still have not been back to the gym since I hurt my knee. I did get some swimming in while I was out of town for the wedding however. My goal of gym three times a week is pretty much shot as I wait for my knee to finish healing. As Anna pointed out a while back, letting myself heal for a bit is probably a better idea than doing any further damage. Today is actually due to be my first day back, and boy am I looking forward to it.
No running though. Exercise bike for sure, possibly the elliptical machine, but no running.
Speaking of exercise, I have been working on a setup for my home as well. We are converting a little used room over to a home gym. We have already gathered an elliptical machine and a Bowflex to put in there. Add that to the Wii fit and we are doing pretty good for gear. It remains to be seen how much it will get used once it is set up.
Honestly, over the last few weeks I have fallen off the wagon so many times that I should be covered in cuts and bruises. For the most part I have tried to cut down portion sizes over what I used to eat and make healthier choices more often. More salads, less breaded deep fried stuff, that kind of thing.
Last night I had leftover salad and whole wheat spaghetti while the rest of the family had Little Caesars for instance. Not the best choice in the world, but it was a better choice. I even managed to not talk myself into a bread stick to go with my spaghetti.
Over all, I think I did ok.
Considering I have not bee on the scale in three weeks I can’t actually give a good track of the daily ups and downs. What I can say is that although I did not meet my personal goal of a one to two pounds a week I actually did better than I thought I would have.
When I last weighed I was 238 pounds.
This time I was 237.
I did not think one pound would matter. Intellectually I know that it is well within the daily fluctuations everyone experiences. It still feels good to see it go down instead of up. Not quite as good as needing a belt for pants that I once had to lay down to button, but good none the less.
All things considered I am pretty happy with how things are going. This weekend will be yet another challenge as my family goes camping with some friends from out of town. I am thinking I will be packing along turkey burgers to go with the regular ones we will be grilling out. Perhaps some healthy choice rolls as well.
And the smores…. I’ll just pass on those.
